The seminar starts with an exploration of ‘the self’ and discusses the multiplicity of influences that lie behind the making of any film.
Using his own experience of growing up with the cinema of the 1950s and 60s David encourages participants to consider the earliest influences on their own creative voice; what it is they are trying to say, and how their own experiences and ambitions can best be manifested on screen.
The session will hope to remind participants of the importance of memory, community, collaboration, and risk taking, and how all of these and more are essential to successful filmmaking.
